Where To Find A PR Marketing Firm

Don’t wonder where to find a PR marketing firm, wonder where to find a good PR marketing firm, it can make all the difference.

The public relations industry is becoming pretty saturated at the moment, so the problem you ought to be thinking about is really not so much ‘where to find a PR marketing firm’ but more like ‘where to find a good PR marketing firm’. There are so many to choose from it can be pretty difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Quick Fix

There are basically two kinds of PR marketing and firms, one which we shall call a ‘quick fix’ is basically flooding the media with press releases, advertising campaigns, billboards and public appearances trying to burst onto the appropriate market and make an impression. Whilst this may be excellent for the launch of a new product or company, a quick fix is exactly what it is, and in order to build a company which can succeed and grow, your public relations really needs to be well thought out with a little more foundation. Consumers are a pretty fickle bunch, and as soon as the next ‘quick fix’ comes along to rival your products, they’ll be off if you haven’t built a good reputation and relationship with your target audience.

Here then, are a few tips on where to find a PR marketing firm that can really do your business justice.

  1. Size – This will probably come down to the same old thing, money. Many of the larger well established public relations firms will need retainers of up to $20,000 per month, which might be ok if you’re the MD of Microsoft, for example, but not for the general small business owner who is trying to establish a good reputation. A smaller firm may well be better placed to serve you, with lower charges and offering a more personal service to suit your needs.
  2. A Good Match – This is important. You need to ensure that your goals, needs and desires are matched by the PR firm you choose. To put it in a nutshell, you’ve both got to be pulling in the same direction, and be able to talk openly and comfortably about your goals and dreams for your company.
  3. Portfolio – The portfolio of the PR Company, not you! You need to know who the public relations company has been, or still is, involved with. Hopefully you’ll have heard of their other clients, if you haven’t, maybe you should steer clear!
  4. What Do You Want? – You need to have clear goals of where you want yourself or your company to be, and how you envisage getting there. Are you interested in a strong internet presence? Do you want a PR firm to write press releases and advertisements? Organize promotional events? Do you want to be a TV personality? Don’t be shy, say it exactly how it is, and if you don’t, how can you get exactly where you need to be?
  5. Location – Now we all know that the world is getting smaller, and with modern technology we can have instant access to firms from anywhere around the world, and if this is ok by you fine, but just maybe you’re the sort of person who needs to speak face to face, and would prefer to find a pr marketing firm in your local area. It’s really up to you.
